The Industrial Brief is a journal. We collect as little as we need to send you the briefing, keep an account, and talk to partners who want to reach our readers. We do not sell your details. We do not put your details into a generative model.
Until a company is incorporated, the publisher of this site is the data controller. Company number and registered office will be added here when they exist. Contact: privacy@theindustrialbrief.com.
What we collect
Readers: name, job title, company, work email, password (stored hashed), what you asked us to send (Monday briefing, weekday daily), pieces you save.
Partners who open the media pack: name, job function, company, work email, phone.
When you write to us: whatever you put in the email.
We do not need a date of birth, a home address, or a personal Gmail. Work email only.
Why
To create and run your account.
To send the emails you asked for. That is consent. You can stop them on your account page, or with the link in every email.
To keep a record of who asked for the media pack, so we can follow up as a business. That is a legitimate interest in B2B sales. You can object.
To keep the site working (a login session).
Who sees it
Us. Hosting and email providers who process it on our instruction. Not a list broker. Not a partner, unless you are that partner.
If the law requires us to hand something over, we will.
How long
Your account, until you close it.
Marketing consent, until you withdraw it.
Media-pack enquiries, for two years after the last contact, then we delete them unless a contract is still live.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy, a correction, a deletion, or a restriction. You can object to legitimate-interest processing. You can take your data elsewhere. Write to privacy@theindustrialbrief.com.
If we cannot sort it, you can complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk). We will register as a controller when the company exists and we hold a live list.
Complaints about your data
Write to privacy@theindustrialbrief.com with the word Complaint in the subject. We will acknowledge within five working days and answer within one month. That is the procedure the law now asks for.
